This is the place of beginning where reminds us how far we have come and where we are going.

By the way, our next EP is also titled "Old Mill Park".... just saying.
http://tidelandsmusic.com/home/old_mill_park Thu, 28 Aug 2014 00:00:00 -0700 tidelands | tidelands music | Home Uncorked TV! http://tidelandsmusic.com/home/uncorked_tv

Our first (I believe) TV appearance happened recently with super cool & sweet creator, Jon Louis of SF Uncorked! As you know, this is the cover art of our last release (7" vinyl) with Debbie Neigher.

It is beautifully framed (custom-frame, of course) and came to me. Totally unexpected. It is like a forgotten extra Birthday/Christmas gift!

Can you imagine how special to see this art work which I have been a part of?! It is a reminder of the "beautiful work" we have created and we will create more.

By the way, "Atoms" in this 7" vinyl (you can listen to it from the link "Now Playing") will be played on May 3rd at Hotel Utah in SF. We haven't played this song for a while, but we have renewed with some brand new tones/sounds. Thanks to my 2nd keyboard (Nord Electro3) for the inspiration….Oooops, this was another Christmas gift Gabriel had given to ME (well, technically for both of us though)♪

I should call him Mr. Santa from now on….

http://tidelandsmusic.com/home/beautiful_work Tue, 29 Apr 2014 00:00:00 -0700 tidelands | tidelands music | Home Indie Music Scene http://tidelandsmusic.com/home/indie_music_scene

Last Wednesday (3/26/2014), we played a great show at Milk Bar in SF. Really Great. Great SF bands (Debbie Neigher, Foxtails Brigade) and Great audience. We have not felt that much excitement for a long time.

It is, I thought, very rare in these days that local indie music groups have a "successful" weeknight show in SF. At least, I had not felt totally comfortable playing any local shows for a while until the last Wednesday.

I am sure there would be many circumstances, but I don't care about the analysis. All I care is the "scene" does exist. It can be a miracle or dream, but it does. We just encountered one and I am sure we will, again.
http://tidelandsmusic.com/home/indie_music_scene Tue, 01 Apr 2014 00:00:00 -0700 tidelands | tidelands music | Home 444Hz http://tidelandsmusic.com/home/444hz
There are many frequencies available in the world. Currently, most American musicians use the standard pitch (A=440Hz) for the tuning, but that does not apply to everyone in the world especially other than Rock/Commercial music, I believe.

Many classical orchestras tune higher like 442Hz to 445Hz, and guys like John Lennon & Paul McCartney have tuned their instruments to C5=528Hz (A=444Hz) in some of their songs (Paul started recording songs in 444Hz/528Hz after 1999).

There are some discussions and theories about C5=528Hz (I'm not going to talk about it here though), and of course I was just curious to check it out :)

So, we started playing our songs in A=444Hz. It is pretty easy to do so (you can change your standard pitch in your tuner and your synthesizers), and… it is just…. amazing difference!

I thought it would not be that much difference between 440Hz and 444Hz…. just 4Hz! But that 4Hz difference actually gives really driving & clear & exciting sound I have never experienced before.

Surprisingly, I don't feel much tired after practicing several hours, and I really enjoy playing our songs more and more. It is really interesting…. and I like it a lot :)

http://tidelandsmusic.com/home/444hz Mon, 03 Mar 2014 00:00:00 -0800 tidelands | tidelands music | Home Do you like to practice? http://tidelandsmusic.com/home/do_you_like_to_practice
Practice…. to me, used to be a "duty" instead of a fun thing. Being a music student, I had to be a perfectionist who supposed to practice 5+ hours per day, supposed to think/talk about music all time, listen to them as much and many types/genres as possible, and so on. Honestly, I was not sure whether or not I "like" music for a long time.

I now like to practice drums, keys and singing… well, I actually love practicing what I do in general. I used to think the practice time = torture which I had to accept in order to be "better". It is true in many cases, but I would rather use/spend the time as an exciting moment to find something new instead of a torture.

Of course, if you are stuck with some difficult phrase, tone or rhythm, you can easily think "Oh my god! this is not fuuuuunnnn!! damn!!" But, at the same time, isn't it interesting how your body starts reacting with the ideal vision (sound) you are seeing/hearing in your head, and it slowly becomes realistic…. in many cases, what you actually see/hear is way better than you envisioned before.

I really enjoy my & band's practice time. Great time to find something new every time…. every time is different time and the same song you think is not the same.
http://tidelandsmusic.com/home/do_you_like_to_practice Tue, 18 Feb 2014 00:00:00 -0800 tidelands | tidelands music | Home two keys http://tidelandsmusic.com/home/two_keys

Two keyboards. yes. My new workstation, well, too many keys it seems?

Moog LP Stage II

Nord Electro 3

I really enjoy the sounds & possibilities of these beautiful keyboards. That's it.
http://tidelandsmusic.com/home/two_keys Thu, 30 Jan 2014 00:00:00 -0800 tidelands | tidelands music | Home 10 years http://tidelandsmusic.com/home/10_years

I played at this club, Thee Parkside last Saturday. This was my second time, and it has been 10 years since I played here last (my first) time. It is amazing that this place has been standing pretty well with over (at least) 10 years while many (used be) nice clubs are now out of business.

Anyways, the gig was a kind of my anniversary also the band anniversary as well. The 10 years ago at this place, I met Gabriel very first time.

One of my musician friends joined Gabriel's band (which I joined later as the last drummer - The Love X Nowhere) so that he brought Gabriel to the EP release show of my band at that time.

There were (of course) a lot of friends there and I just briefly met him w/very short greetings like "Thank you for coming!", but somehow, I remembered him until we officially met at TLXN in late 2007.

So now here we are.

I saw again many nice people on the 11th enjoying the Saturday night drinking, hanging and checking out the bands playing. It looked pretty similar, but I felt totally different in many ways (I won't list those things here though).

10 years... it seems a long time, but it's not. I feel like it is just a blink of time. At the same time, I feel super long distance, well, rather a different dimension from where I was standing before.

All I can say now is that I really enjoy my music, this project and very lucky to meet Gabriel 10 years ago at this place (and play the nice show with him).
http://tidelandsmusic.com/home/10_years Tue, 14 Jan 2014 00:00:00 -0800 tidelands | tidelands music | Home First show of the year 2014 http://tidelandsmusic.com/home/first_show_of_the_year_2014

We would LOVE to see you there☆☆☆
http://tidelandsmusic.com/home/first_show_of_the_year_2014 Mon, 06 Jan 2014 00:00:00 -0800 tidelands | tidelands music | Home
